Ethan Beihl
I’m a math educator, researcher, and activist in the NY Metro area, recently relocated from Lansing, MI. I received my bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Stony Brook University and my master’s in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
About Me
My research at UW–Madison investigated how race and racism operate in extracurricular programs that teach advanced mathematics, and how those programs in turn influence how math and race are connected. Race-, class-, and gender-based oppressions shape the world around us, sometimes in ways we cannot see, and I hope that my scholarship will uncover new ways of combating them.
My hobbies include jazz composition, hiking and camping, gardening, and computer programming. You might also find me making trouble alongside my comrades in various labor and political organizations as we agitate for a more just and free society. And sometimes I bake bread.
